Alan Schoenbaum - SVP, General Counsel and Secretary

Alan Schoenbaum is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Rackspace and leads our legal team. Prior to joining Rackspace in 2005, he served as a partner of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in San Antonio, Texas, where he led the corporate and securities law section. Schoenbaum has more than 20 years of experience in corporate and securities law, and throughout his legal career has represented public and private growth companies, venture capital funds and their portfolio companies. Schoenbaum was named to the 2005-2006 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.

Schoenbaum received a B.A. and J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association and the San Antonio Bar Association.

What's your favorite moment at Rackspace?

The first annual kickoff I attended in 2006. It was amazing.

One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez

What was your first car?

1969 Fiat 124 Spider Convertible. I sold it after two months and got a 1969 Ford F100 pickup. Great truck—no air conditioning, four on the floor, 8-track, straight six. I used it to haul my dirt bike and Lone Star kegs.
